A wise man once said 'Don't build your future on flawed infrastructure.' After hearing the fish finger challenge was just a rumour, I have set it upon myself to fix this club's integrity. As Dev Sec I want to continue the legacy of a key part of this club, average cricket from blokes who have joined to chop pints.

I would love to be able to have a positive impact on the club and feel I could do this through the development secretary role. Having been a cricket coach since 14, working with a varied ability of players I have experience of being accommodating to the individual/group’s needs. Having also played to a relatively high standard, I hope to be able to bring my playing experiences into the role in order to be of help as much as possible.

I hopefully come across as an approachable person and one who will be willing to help people wherever is needed. I would be passionate in urging people to become more involved with the club in whichever way they see fit whether that be through socials, rollover, football and indoor cricket etc. I would also look to potentially add indoor games for the development squad to introduce some sort of competition and added enjoyment to their cricket whether it be externally or internally amongst the squad. Another thing that has slowly been introduced already that I would make a larger push for would be sober socials in order to become more inclusive and appeal to a larger proportion of members of the club where people can get to know each other on a more personal level.

I would hope that I would be able to provide an enjoyable environment for any members to be able to train and have fun in a weekly session where they can socialise with their mates.

Being an absolute cricketing badger, there’s nothing more exciting than the idea of leading Dev Squad over the next year.

As Dev Sec, I’d continue to spread the love of cricket throughout this incredible society, by creating an inter-club indoor cricket tournament that would run through the winter. This would stimulate that competitive edge we all long for during these deep dark months, whilst developing relationships across squads.

This follows onto my main aim of further integrating lads that may feel on the fringes of our society. As a personable and caring character, I hope I’d be able to build a rapport with everyone and set out to encourage further participation within Dev Squad, whether that’s Moorside socials, run clubs, coffee mornings etc. I strongly believe the more you throw yourself into this club, the more you (Niall) love it.
