Hi Fellas,

What an incredible couple of years at Leeds it has been and without a doubt some of my best and most memorable times have come from being part of UoLMCC. If given the opportunity I would like to help continue this for all members in the upcoming year.

As Secretary I am confident that I would put in the time and effort to keep the club organised and help it continue to grow. I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks this, but I do truly believe that I am a very organised person and I take pride in this. This skill would help me for this role as a big part is organising events for the club such as the cricket ball. Its not secret that this particular weekend is an absolute highlight for all and having the opportunity to attend the ball twice so far has allowed me to see how club events are successfully run, and the work it takes to do so. I am also confident that I have good communication skills. If given the opportunity, these skills would be used to collaborate with the committee and relay any information or opportunities to the members of the club as I believe it is important to keep the club community engaged and connected.

Being part of the performance squad over the past two years, I’ve been able to play for both the 1st and 2nd team which has allowed me to build meaningful relationships within the club. This involvement alongside taking part in socials and rollovers has allowed me to develop relationships not only within the performance squad but throughout the club as a whole. Witnessing firsthand the dedication required for both on-field performance and the off-field organisation has provided me with valuable insight into the club’s operations. In the upcoming season I will be serving as the 2nd team vice-captain. I have been entrusted with tasks that range from organising teams to demonstrating leadership both on and off the field. This experience will help me showcase my ability to work within a team but also highlight my capacity for leadership and building a positive team/club environment.

Lastly, I believe that I am a very outgoing person. I enjoy getting to meet and build relationships with new people and look forward to continuing this next year. Being able to build these relationships by getting to know the broad array of people across the club has helped me gain insight into new ideas for next year. I will look to discuss the details of these ideas at the AGM.

My love for this club is quite frankly sick. The enjoyment I have gotten out of being Social Sec this year continuously reminded me of this, and hopefully that has shone through for everyone else to see. I have made friendships and been able to experience things with this club that I know will last a lifetime. Whilst some consider my cricketing career laughable (my 5-fer away at Aylesbury community college would suggest otherwise), I’m still committed to do everything I can to help us succeed. I hope learning to score and continuing to score this summer proves this.

It should come as no surprise, then, that I want to continue to help the club thrive and grow. I am an established, present and (hopefully) well liked member of the club who has time for everyone. However, those who know me well can attest that I truly have more to offer than just a good social. As an organised, switched on and reliable person, I have been involved in leadership positions at every stage of my life so far.

As a result, Secretary is a role that I have always been excited by. Sitting in committee meetings this year, I have gained a proper understanding of what goes into making the club tick, and I was able to decide very quickly that this is the role I wanted to apply for. Having watched Hursty and Brendan Snr smash it out the park, I know it is a lot to follow, but I honestly believe I am more than capable.

I will save the details/plans/ideas that I want to bring to the role for the speech because I know most of you will have stopped reading.

Hi lads,

To say the least, my time at Leeds became significantly better off when I grew a pair and decided to join UoLMCC. Thanks to the amazing people in our society I ventured out of my comfort zone and have become a far more confident and outgoing person. This has given me a great reason to want to be a part of giving others the same experience I received in these 2 awesome years.

I’d like to say my skill set directs me towards the secretary role. I’m dedicated, being involved in every single area of the society. This has given me a good understanding of how the club works both in regards to the cricketing and social departments . Quite cliche, but I am in fact a very organised person and my successful work/ social life balance attests to this. I also throw a few darts (we get it shut up) and have performed a vast range of tasks on the committee such as admin work, fixture arrangement, social media duties and more. I believe this flexibility and willingness to help others is an important attribute for the role.

Whilst overseeing a smooth operation of the society I believe being receptive and approachable is the best way to give a voice to everyone to express their own ideas. Additionally, I also have my own personal ideas to put across. A highlight of which, if feasible, a 4th BUCS team which would be a way of bridging the gap between the 3s and development squad and would give a greater playing opportunity to all.

Our club provides such a unique way in which we all connect and I’d love to be part of a committee that preserves and improves the society that keeps us coming back !
