Evening fellas,
Well, what an incredible couple of years we have had as a club and as the LUUMCC family - I must thank the committee and its Leaders Reg Wyatt and Jack Rodshite. Personally, they have been the best two years of my life, being part of what I believe is the greatest club in Leeds.

As I move towards my final year at Leeds, I would love to be CC to build on the great foundations already in place and to continue to grow the club both from a playing perspective but equally important as a club that continues to bring people together socially.
As to why me – I don’t want to bore you now, so will keep it short, and save the detail for AGM, when you can listen to me whilst slowly sipping on a pint of Carling (I miss it already). So here are my key points:

From my time as a committee member under Reg and an innocent fresher of Rodshite, I have seen the importance of the CC in running smoothly such a successful club. I believe the key candidate needs to exhibit 3 key attributes:

Firstly, any candidate must be able to lead and have the respect of the committee. To this end I am a well-known, well-liked (with a bit of luck), and an active member of the club who also has firsthand experience already on the committee and of captaining sides and running the mighty Dev Squad which has given me a great understanding of how to get everyone involved.

Secondly, they must appreciate the role of the club in bringing people together, they need to be outgoing, sociable and want to participate. I think you have seen me love all aspects of this, from being there chopping beers to helping establish sober socials. More importantly for me it is about getting on with people, and creating an environment where life friendships can be created.

Finally, we are a cricket club that wants to play cricket. Being part of the 1st team/performance squad for 2 years I know how the sporting side of the club is run and I would apply my cricketing and practical knowledge to set the Club up for what would hopefully be a triumphant summer of cricket for all abilities.

This is the best club in Leeds, and I believe I have the required attributes to be the next CC and would be honored to be chosen to ensure its continued success.

The love that I have for our club is no secret. Ever since I joined, it is a place where I have felt included and encouraged, and one where I believe my personal development has thrived. The memories and mates that I have made along the way I will likely never forget. However, I am not applying for this role simply due to my love for the club.

Throughout my time at UoLMCC, I have learned from Rodnight and Reg what it means to be a great club captain. I will develop these thoughts in more depth at the AGM, but put simply I believe I have the dedication, ambition and creativity required to lead this club to an even brighter future.

Naturally, I will be thought of by many of you as somebody who is more interested in the social side of this club. However, whilst I am so proud of the community that has been created over the years, I would really like to stress my ambition to develop us as a cricketing club. I have been amazed by the degree of talent that I’ve been surrounded with since joining here, and I would like to place an emphasis on my ambition to cement our position as not just one of, but the best cricketing university in the country.

Naturally, I have a lot more to say and plenty more thoughts to share, but instead of boring you all here, I will wait until we’re sat in the library with a pint of Carling.
