Hey everyone! I’m Aisa:)
I’m running as Welfare Officer as I have just experienced almost a year of commuting to Leeds, and the journey has sure been a rollercoaster. Commuting in itself is a skill that not many can grasp, it comes with its benefits, but there’s endless headaches too.
Sometimes the feeling of loneliness and not “ fitting in” can get in our way of studies. One begins to feel like you are missing out, and I’m here to say that that’s far from the truth!
The commuter’s society has boosted my confidence through its creative and inclusive social events. It gives commuters the chance to feel safe and comfortable around campus. This great achievement is what I want to take part in, making commuting experience as enjoyable and fulfilling as possible for everyone.
As a Welfare Officer, my first and foremost priority is to have a safe environment in which everyone feels welcome and supported. I’m certain this can be achieved by working alongside a great team of commuter’s whose purpose is to look after other commuters who might find it hard to navigate uni life.
It’ll be a huge honour to be able to make that experience a tad more pleasurable by looking after other commuters and their needs.

My name is Anya, and I am a first-year HR student. I am thrilled to apply for the Welfare Officer position, as I am driven by a deep commitment to social justice and community welfare.

I believe I have the skills necessary to fulfil this role. I have gained invaluable experience having previously volunteered with Oxfam, which improved my communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills. I will prioritise actively listening to individuals' concerns, needs, and aspirations, as this is crucial for providing support. I am very good at empathising with and comprehending other people's feelings and experiences, which is crucial for a responsibility like this. It will be my goal as your welfare officer to support you with compassion.

Given the opportunity, I am eager to contribute to this team, working towards a society where everyone has the chance to thrive. I am committed to providing comprehensive support tailored to each person's unique circumstances.
