Hi everyone! I'm Tatum and I am running for the position of trips and events officer for the 2025/26 year.

I am a 20-year-old studying Classical Civilisation and now heading into my second year, having done a gap year in South America for 5 months.

As a fervent traveller, I budget very well and adore researching for the best deals possible! Last year, I travelled to 9 countries in South America, managing to avoid scams with my friends and even come home with leftover money.

Drinks and horses!!! My favourite combination of course... I will therefore be organising lots of trips to the races whenever it is on as it is always such a blast and not too expensive either! Also, I shall make sure to plan the Olympia London Horse Show as it is such a fantastic event that I have been consistently attending ever since I was small.


While I was in South America, Argentina, I found an amazing horse riding, wine and steak experience, which was just the best and not too pricey either. I will be sure to include a horse riding getaway on top of a fabulous holiday to a big party spot as I completely understand the importance of more relaxing holidays.

I would love to also organise local day trips to cities. Additionally, I want to introduce hiking into these sorts of trips as it is such a buzz to be out in the fresh air away from busy Leeds!

I adore a great party and go clubbing pretty much every time I go abroad, while I was interrailing in Europe after my A-levels, my friends and I went to numerous different clubs such as Duplex in Prague (I miss those Europeans so much). Hence, I would be eager to coordinate a great holiday with these sorts of party spots for everyone alongside the riding vacation. Furthermore, I would be very excited to introduce music festivals we could go to as a club as I always try to go to at least one festival a year and there's no better way to spend it than with the best people :)

Finally, I would love to work with the lessons organiser this year to set out how we are running the GIAG and Christmas games for this year. I used to volunteer at my old yard, and it always made me so happy leading someone around who was slowly falling in love with horse riding just like I did. I have also participated in gymkanas before and they are consistently so much fun for both riders and horses so I will ensure to also coordinate the games for this year.

ABOUT ME
If you were to find me anywhere, it would be where there are animals. On campus, i’ll be with the bunnies, my favourite animal. I’m planning to study for a PhD, so you better get used to me, as i’ll be here for a while…

I first started riding at only a few years old; my Auntie Isabel owned a pony, Smartie. I was introduced to lessons at 7, but this ended after I almost fell and could no longer afford to continue my dream. I aspire to get to competition level and make my two heavenly angels proud.

WHAT I CAN BRING
Hopefully, you have all seen that I’m a friendly face with a lot of passion for making others feel comfortable. I pride myself on being approachable, as I love getting to know new people. It’s important to me to maintain the supportive and lively atmosphere which currently exists.

Skillswise, I excel as a highly organised individual, even down to my emails, who deals well with responsibility. I regard myself as someone who is sensible and supportive.

I will uphold the standards of events officer to ensure the society will grow and promote positivity and encouragement no matter the level.

As Trip Secretary, my main aim is to have one holiday abroad, one locally and another camping; all would involve some riding. On top of that, I hope there will be some opportunities to visit some cities for a day or two and attend the races. Fortunately, me and my mam are a dream team; as we are highly efficient at finding the cheapest prices for the best places - so there’s at least 2 people looking out for us, with our best interests in mind! Hopefully, these trips will be very inclusive and everyone will be able to make it to atleast one or two. The memories will last a lifetime.

I can only wish to be on the committee next year because I just love you all so much, this society feels like a family away from home to me x
