I’m applying for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Secretary because I don’t believe this role should be symbolic—I think it should challenge the way our society actually works.

Too often, “inclusion” becomes a word we use rather than something we actively build. In a Slavic Society, this matters even more. “Slavic” is not one identity—it’s a mix of cultures, languages, histories, and experiences. But in reality, some voices are louder than others, and some people feel like outsiders even within a space that’s meant to represent them. I want to change that.

I’m someone who pays attention to who is included—and who isn’t. Whether it’s international students who feel disconnected, people who don’t speak the language fluently, or those who don’t fit the “typical” image of a Slavic member, I want to make sure no one feels like they’re on the edge of the community.

If elected, I won’t just organise events—I’ll question them. Who are they for? Who might feel excluded? And how do we fix that? I want to introduce more open discussions, spotlight underrepresented cultures within the Slavic world, and create an environment where people feel comfortable speaking honestly, not just socially.

I’m not applying to maintain the status quo. I’m applying to push this society to be more self-aware, more inclusive, and more real.

Because diversity only matters if people can actually feel it.
