I believe that I would be a good fit for development secretary because I am very involved within the club both socially and with regards to training and matches. Dev sec is a key role for linking different members of the club together, which is why I believe that I would be successful. If elected, I would be fully committed to running weekly training sessions throughout the year where people can unwind whilst also work on their cricketing abilities. Having done a good amount of coaching and co-ordinating training sessions back home, I have experience when it comes to organisation.

The development squad is a very important part of luumcc - it is an entirely welcoming and inclusive section which allows more members to fully engage with the club, both socially and in a cricketing sense. In my opinion, development nets should offer a completely stress free, fun environment for those simply wanting to have a go and enjoy their cricket. This, along with offering a relaxed experience of the game, will give rise to opportunities for players to hopefully improve their skills and possibly move into the main squad. I would strive for these net sessions to run smoothly and give everyone an equal go. To enable this i would look to find availability for the session early in the week to sort numbers and timings of the session. From here, with experience running sessions at my home club, the nets should run without a hitch. Also, if numbers and interest allow, i would look to run some separate fielding/small games on the side of the nets. This would allow people to work on skills other than batting and bowling, split up what is a long session for some non-bowlers and also hopefully integrate a bit of a team vibe to the session rather than the normal 1 vs 1 situation found at nets.

I have had 3 years of coaching experience I have with school teams which involved organising nets, drills and training sessions. This gives me skills required to run a squad like this, and I know how important this squad is to the club so I will try to maximise involvement and participation across all abilities. Last but not least, I love cricket!

Last night I had a vision, a vision of creating an enjoyable, social and passionate environment for everyone who takes part of the development process in this society. And in this vision I was at the forefront of this. I feel that I could create a really fun and competitive atmosphere within the Dev squad and do my best to help cricketers reach their potential and move up to the main squad. As a Dev squad player myself I feel I am most suited to lead these sessions as I know the current lads and am keen to welcome the next batch.

As a regular attendee of Dev I know how important it is to the club as a whole and to the people who enjoy the game socially. Dev has also helped to me to create some really good friends who I would not know without it, as well as great memories playing in the Dev games. Over the past year I have watched how Dev has been run smoothly by Freddie and would be happy to run it as he has done this year, also in regard to the suggestions of moving people up to main squad. Dev should be enjoyed by everyone that goes and should offer a place to improve your cricket or just have a laugh with your mates. I would permanently implement activities that have worked at at Dev this year such as the game of Kwik cricket to the side of the net. I would also implement more game-like situations into the net sessions to help people improve and work towards a goal, as well as having an enjoyable time. As well as this, I would ensure that people got suitable time to both bat and bowl. Overall, I think Dev is a fantastic part of the club that should be enjoyed by everyone that goes; it should offer motivation to improve your cricket, a place to have as laugh with your mates, and the best place to go before Fruity on a Friday night.
