Hi lads, I have decided to put my name forward for Safety and Welfare Officer for the club as it is a cause which is close to my heart. Through my time being involved at the club over the last 2 (well lets be honest 1) years, I feel I have forged many positive relationships with the members of the club and I hugely care for the well-being of those in the society. I plan on continuing the great work from last year regarding the opening up talk, the annual Movember campaign, and I also plan on doing a fitness related challenge (hopefully someone joins me this time!). But all in all, I have a great desire to help this side of the club, to allow for conversations regarding mental health to be discussed openly, and to continue to challenge the stigma regarding men's mental health. I am standing for Safety and Welfare Officer for LUUMCC because:
- Mental health of all our members is incredibly important.
- I am happy to listen to anybody who has any issues or feel that they are being bullied or mistreated within the club.
- I have also taken part in some Mantality Sessions which are the Leeds University Men's mental health society and would encourage lads in the society to do there sessions if you are ever feeling down they really do help with stress.
- Finally, having two younger brothers and having done uni online having a society where lads can socialise and be open with issues that they are having is incredibly important and as welfare sec I would hope the club can continue this.
