Hey everyone 👋
I would like to run for events secretary this year as I would be able to contribute considerably to this society!!
Filmsoc this year has been good but next year I want instill a sense of community through crafting social ideas with the committee! I have ideas ranging from
-mini-Leeds Unis student film festival, to -filmmaking “matchmaking,” to making chat groups -
where ideas such as screenplays and storyboards are shared!!
Other Social ideas include a filmmaking competition, otley runs, film character costume parties etc.
I love films and love making films and have made films for the bfi in the past, i also have done short courses in london film academy etc.

Hey!!!!

I'm Arlo! I've been a film soc regular for the past year, you may recognise me as the member with the most obnoxious hair. I myself have enjoyed being a part of the film soc community, and in the role of events sec I'll be able to help further bring this community together. I will bring a welcoming atmosphere by providing fun events which both active and casual society members can enjoy. Of course, this will be helped by me being in the second year of a BA in fun.

Aside from the usual otley runs, I would put on a cliché bingo for the so bad it's good films, film character costume competitions and more frequent pub quizzes. Of course my iconic tech deck tricks will also appear.

Asking me what my favourite film is is like asking a mother to pick her favourite child. In that it'll only be revealed in my will that I hate them all equally. A joke, of course.

Usually the committee take turns choosing films however, if elected, I would forgo my own choices for more regular audience chosen films. I believe this will help the society become even more community driven.

Hi, my name is Eve Howarth, I’m 19 and currently studying English Literature with Film Studies.
I’m running for Events Secretary as I want to make film soc not just about watching films, but celebrating the love for cinema in a community of people who feel the same!
As Events Sec, I will host many more quizzes, and theme them! One of my main reasons for running for this role is to diversify film society and the films we show. Therefore, my quizzes- and all events, will follow more diverse topics such as women’s, black history, and pride month (to name a few), centring around films and filmmakers from those areas.
And if quizzes aren’t your thing, I also aim to have at least one Otley Run, an Oscar’s party (with prizes for correct predictions), cinema trips, and meet ups to promote and engage with each other’s films, and screenplays!
