Aspiring to lead the Economics Society as Social Secretary, I envision creating vibrant events that engage members from diverse backgrounds. Hi,
My name is Megan and I am a 1st Year Economics student. Having been a member of the society this year, I am excited by the opportunity to be a part of the committee and help improve the society.
As social secretary, I'd ensure EconSoc was a more sociable society! Regular events to bring together all students of the subject and create a friendly and supportive network.
How would I do this;
Regular events throughout the year
Making sure events are as cheap as possible
Collaborate with other societies for bigger events
Sober socials to make sure everyone is included
A wider range of events including fridge-to-fridge, Otley run
Group chat to further connect members and help with organizing events
Polls to give members more choice over types and dates of events
Why me;
Avid social attender for both EconSoc and other societies - I know what makes a good social and can never turn down a Mischief!
Guilty of haggling on a night out I'll be sure to secure the best entry and drink deals for socials
I bring similar experience from running a week of events and fundraisers during the annual Charities Week at my school. This involved collaborating with local businesses and the community, managing finance and presenting events.
