I am applying as EconSoc treasurer as I want to help the society to grow and progress and I believe a key way of achieving this is through ensuring the society has sufficient funds.

I have many ideas to expand the society’s access to financial support, including innovative funding projects at events and workshops. I also want to expand the society’s corporate sponsorship and believe that I have the contacts to do so. I aspire to develop the number of events and workshops, from a wide range of corporations and firms, that are available to members. I hope to provide EconSoc members with increased knowledge of opportunities and career paths which are available and I am committed to ensuring that there are interesting and new opportunities to suit everyone’s interests.

Most importantly I want to listen to your wants as a member of EconSoc and channel funding into these areas. Along with this, I aspire to use funding to increase the number of events which allow members to meet and expand connections both socially and professionally.

I have experience working with a wide range of corporate financial data through the spring internships I have participated in, including investment banking, professional services and accounting. I will draw on this experience to maintain efficiency, accuracy and organisation within the society’s finances and budget.

My name is Danny, and I am going into my second year studying economics. As Treasurer, I will help the society grow and thrive, providing opportunities to students academically and socially.

Why vote for me?
• Attended many events from different societies this year, so recognise the importance of continuing to facilitate the events organised by the economics society next year.
• Excited about expanding the corporate sponsors of the society, to fund a greater number of events. I believe my prior experience with a number of leading firms in the UK will give me an advantage in such goals.
• Having led efforts in raising money for our school rugby tour, and overseeing the finances of a student-run charity store, I have prior experience in searching for various sources of finances, and managing budgets.
• Keen to continue to support the sports which the society engages with.
• Worked in a diverse array of teams in the past, during work experience's to being apart of different sports teams, so can work effectively in a team.

Hi all,

My name is Alex and I am excited to put myself forward for the role of Treasurer in EconSoc for 24/25. Having been part of EconSoc for a year now, I am eager to help contribute to the society's further development!

So, what can I bring to the society?

My main objective in the role of Treasurer is to increase EconSoc's outreach beyond the university campus. If elected, I will be reaching out to local firms on behalf of the society to bring in more resources and opportunities to benefit our memebers. In adddition, I will also strive to maintain the society's low membership fees to ensure that the society is accessible for anyone who would like to join. Finally, I am eager to develop greater communication between our memebers and the committee. One way I believe that this could be done is via greater transparency regarding the society's finances to ensure that the allocation of resources reflects the priorities of the members!

Hi, I’m Tabitha, and I’m going into my second year studying economics!

Last year, I was on the committee as the first-year representative and this year, I’m looking forward to taking a more active role in the society. From this experience, I’m already well accustomed to how EconSoc runs, and how to help next year be the best ever year for us!

I’ve attended numerous events and workshops with the society over the past year, so am well-equipped to understand the funding that these events require. I would love to continue with the array of events provided, so we will need effective finance management.

I will continue to keep membership at a reasonable price and make this accessible to all students. I will ensure that all funding goes towards events that will benefit the society members, both social events and academic ones.

I am well-organised and have strong record-keeping skills, so I will be performing treasury work on time, and to a high standard. I have a good understanding of how funding works for university societies, having been a member of the committee last year, so I feel my experience will be beneficial.
