I’m unhappy with my assessment/exam results
If you’re unhappy with how your assessments have gone or are disappointed with your results there are a few things you can try.
Speak to your School, the Module Leader or your Personal Tutor first. It's best to discuss your worries and concerns about your results with them, they may be able to offer some guidance on the best option for you. They might also be willing to go over your work and provide feedback on why you got the mark you received.
If there have been any difficulties which affected your ability to work or take an exam and they have not been taken into account, you can take a look at the mitigating circumstances procedure. We also have some related articles that help to explain this process. It might be that you need to appeal based on these circumstances.
You cannot appeal just because you disagree with the mark given - this is called challenging the academic judgement of the examiner and is not a ground for appeal.
If you do have grounds for appeal, then you have 20 working days from the date your results were finalised to submit your appeal form and evidence. Read our related articles for more information.
Please note that if you are in your final year and need to appeal, this will impact when you receive your award. You may still be able to attend your graduation ceremony, but you should tell the Graduation Office (graduation@leeds.ac.uk) if you intend to appeal to prevent your award being conferred shortly after your celebration date.
LUU Advice can help you with the appeals process and give you guidance about all of these issues, pop into our office for more information or email us at advice@luu.leeds.ac.uk
