Reporting the Crime

If you have been a victim of a crime, we recommend reporting the crime. This could reporting it to the police or just telling someone else what you have been through. This reduces what you are keeping to yourself for your wellbeing.

Reporting to the police:

If you want to make a police report of the crime so that it can be investigated and criminal charges can be made, you will need to speak to the police. This can be done immediately as the crime is taken place/straight after by calling the police on 999

If you are not ready to do it straight away, you can always make your way to a police station and report the crime when you're ready. This may result in no action being taken but you would have on record.

Reporting fraud and cyber crime:

If you are the victim of fraud, you can report it to Action Fraud. They are the UK's national reporting centre for these types of crime.

Reporting a crime that happening outside of the UK:

If the crime happened outside of the UK or was done by someone outside of the UK, you will need to report it to the relevant authorities in that country.

If you don't want to report it to the police:

It's okay if you do not feel comfortable reporting a crime to the police or other places. No one is going to make you do so. However we would recommend telling someone so you are not keeping it to yourself.

If a crime has happen in a place of business, tell a staff member. They will be able to make sure you're safe and can contact the police for you if you wish.
