Safezone app

The Safezone app was an app developed for people to use whilst on campus. It is linked to the security team and can be used if anyone needs help.

The app has multiple features on it and all the details can be found here. It is free and easy to use.

There are 3 main functions on the app:

  1. The green first aid button (for a physical or mental health incident when normal procedures can't be followed)
  2. The blue 'non-urgent' button (for non urgent situations like being locked out of a building)
  3. The red emergency button (for situations that cause immediate danger)

When a button is pressed for the relevant situation, a member of the security will respond and come assist. Once it is resolved, you can then press cancel but only do this once resolved, not beforehand.

Another feature of the app includes a check in timer. If you are on campus and feel uncomfortable or unsafe, you can share your location with the security team and set a timer. If the security team don't hear from you by the time it runs out, they will come check in to make sure you're ok.
