Get Out Get Active Trip to Lake Windermere
Res Life is collaborating with GOGA on a walk around Lake Windermere, the largest natural lake in England! The walk starts along the shores of Lake Windermere and culminates in an ascent to the Orrest Head viewpoint, where you will be treated to panoramic views of the Lake District landscape.
We will meet at Parkinson Steps on campus at 07:45 to depart at 08:00. We will return to Parkinson Steps for 18:30. We will travel via coach. This is included in the ticket cost (£5).
What you need to bring
- Packed lunch and a drink
- Good outdoor walking shoes or boots and a waterproof jacket. GOGA offer a limited amount of kit hire including walking boots and waterproof jackets - they will send a request form closer to the date of the walk
- Money to purchase items in shops and cafes near the Lake
Walk Information
The trip will offer two walking options- there will be a shorter walk for those wanting to take the walk at a slower pace and a longer walk for those looking to explore some more of the hiking options in this beautiful setting. Both walks feature uphill sections and uneven terrain. The shorter walk allows for more breaks and a slower walking pace, whereas the longer route has less breaks and moves at a quicker pace.
There will be some free time after the walk to visit the many cafes and shops located on the shores of Lake Windermere.
Please note that the length of time to explore the shops and cafes will depend on which route option you pick.
You will need a packed lunch and drink. We would like to emphasise the need for good outdoor walking shoes or boots plus waterproof clothing. Please bring some food for during the walk. We also offer a limited amount of kit hire including walking boots and waterproof jackets – we will send a request form closer to the date of the walk.
