Students Against Disability Cuts Campus Protest
CUTS KILL! Students Against Disability Cuts Campus Protest
21st May // 12-1.30pm // UoL Bacon Statue // Speakers + BSL Interpreter // ALLIES WELCOME
LUU's Liberation Networks, led by the Student Disabled Reps, have launched a campaign against Labour's Proposed PIP Cuts and have organised a campus protest on the 21st May by the UoL Bacon Statue.
Here are some quotes from students about the importance of these payments to their lives:
"PIP is my lifeline; I cannot survive without it. And it is still not enough as it is...I receive one of the highest rates of PIP you can get, and I am still drowning...Without PIP, I would die" - UoL Student, 24/25
"If my PIP gets cut, I will likely have to drop out of university as I can only vaguely and occasionally access work...I will have to stop being a student so that I can claim full benefits" - UoL Student, 24/25
"Without these benefits, I simply would not be able to live as a student, and would instead rely on council housing and increase governmental and medical support" - UoL Student, 24/25
This campaign relies on support and solidarity of all students - not just disabled students or those receiving PIP - so come along and show your support for the Campus Protest on the 21st May.
Please come along to the free Banner Making Workshop on the 20th May to create your protest art and placards: Sign-Up Here
