Leeds and You Welcome Events
September marks the start of our 2025-26 academic year. If you’re joining us for the first time, welcome to Leeds. If you’re returning after the summer, welcome back!
Whether you are a new or returning student, we have lots of exciting events on offer such as Campus Walking Tours, City Chases, and many activities and fairs in the marquee! Welcome Events will be running from Wednesday 10 September to Friday 31 October.

- Residence Life run social events for students staying in halls including BBQs, quizzes, silent disco, daytrips, and mixers for LGBTQ+, black and Muslim students
- Galleries run weekly events such as Write on Wednesday and Sketch Club, along with public art walks, life drawings and more
- The Language Zone run a range of workshops, activities, socials and games to help you practice and improve your language skills. You can also take part in language exchange
- Get Out Get Active programme offers a range of healthy activities including climbing sessions, run clubs, and walking trips across Yorkshire’s countryside and beyond
- The sustainability team run weekly campus gardening sessions, wildlife walks, community litter-picking and the Repair Cafe in Edward Boyle Library
- HELIX is the new learning innovation hub that offers VR sessions, podcasting 101, animation courses, video and photography guides and more. Tours of HELIX will guide you through the media suite, self-recording booths, XR development space and MakerSpace
- Stage@leeds venue runs a variety of contemporary performance events throughout the year including theatre and dance
- The chaplaincy offers guidance, support and activities such as lunchtime communion, Bible study, Chinese church and more. Chaplains can also provide support for all students no matter your faith
- The Business Confucius Institute promotes Chinese language and culture with a business focus, offering Chinese classes, guest lectures, musical performances and more
- The Plus Programme offers support to students from under-represented backgrounds, helping with transition to university, career progression and providing events to meet other students
- The Lifelong Learning Centre provides support for foundation year, mature and part-time students, offering one-to-one advice, study skills support and opportunities to meet other students
