Leeds Law Society presents the first Pride Panel of the year led by Dr Emily Roach, a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Law. For over twelve years Emily worked as a restructuring lawyer in market-leading City law firms Allen & Overy LLP (now A&O Shearman) and Ropes & Gray International LLP. One of Emily's notable transactions was litigation flowing from the collapse of investment bank, Lehman Brothers in 2008. Emily now convenes postgraduate modules in International Finance Law and Corporate Insolvency at the University of Law.

Emily's interdisciplinary research focuses on the intersections between law, queer theory and contemporary literature and media, with particular expertise in contemporary LGBT spoken word poetry, fiction and memoir, fan communities and transformative works, queer cinema and television narratives of LGBT experience. Current research projects include a collaborative paper on the policing of British music subcultures, a paper on legal precarity and queer cinema and a chapter on depictions of coercive control in World War I fiction.

Emily has worked with organisations such as Stonewall and has held board positions in charities and not-for-profits with an LGBT focus. We hope to see you there!
