Explore Keswick, Lake District - GOGA Walking Trip - Sunday 1st December 2024

Group University of Leeds Events
Venue Parkinson Steps
Starts Sun 1 Dec 8:00AM
End Sun 1 Dec 6:30PM

Join Get Out Get Active exploring the beautiful countryside around Keswick in the Lake District.

Keswick is an ancient market town in the north of the Lake District National Park, on the shores of Derwentwater, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, mountains and lakes.

Keswick is situated in the north of Derwentwater lake and is often referred to as the “Adventure Capital of the Lake District”. This walkers’ paradise is surrounded by picturesque valleys as well as 1,200 acres of crystal-clear water.

After exploring the varied terrain, we will lead you back to Keswick where you will have some free time to explore some of the shops and cafes that the Cumbrian town has to offer. There will also be the opportunity to visit Keswick's annual Victorian fayre, with live entertainment and stalls selling Christmas food and gifts!

Important note: This can be a more strenuous walk with some steep sections along rough mountain paths after the lake. You will need good outdoor walking shoes or strong trainers (you don’t mind getting muddy) plus a layer of waterproof clothing. You will also need a spare pair of shoes for after the walk, and a bag for your muddy boots/trainers.
