Taiji Yangsheng Zhang

Venue Jade Studio, Leeds University Union
Starts Thu 18 Jun 12:15PM
End Thu 18 Jun 12:45PM

Discover the calming and revitalising practice of Taiji Yangsheng Zhang (Taiji Health-Preserving Staff) Qigong. This graceful discipline blends flowing Taiji movements with the use of a staff to improve balance, flexibility, and inner peace. Suitable for all levels, it offers a mindful approach to both physical and mental well-being.

Using a staff as an extension of the body, Taiji Yangsheng Zhang Qigong helps guide movement, enhance flexibility, and improve Qi flow. Its circular, flowing motions promote spinal health, relaxation, and focus. The staff also provides gentle self-massage, supports posture regulation, and deepens the connection between mind (Yi), energy (Qi), and body (Xing). Experience the harmony of movement and stillness while unlocking your body's natural vitality.

Preparation for Participants:

If you are interested in joining this practice in April, please prepare a staff before attending. Here are some guidelines:

  • Material: A wooden staff is preferred for its natural feel and suitability.
  • Length: The staff should measure approximately 70-80% of your height to ensure proper use.
  • Thickness: A comfortable thickness for most people is approximately 2-3 cm in diameter, ensuring a good grip.
  • Surface: Ensure the surface is smooth to avoid harm to your hands.
  • Markers: One end of the staff should be marked (e.g., with paint, ribbon, or tape) to distinguish between the two ends.
  • Identification: It is recommended to have your name or an identifier on the staff.
