A Scottish Winter wonderland (weather conditions permitting…) LUUMC earns its mountaineering namesake and heads far up north to the mountainous expanse of the Cairngorms. Our winter trip is accessible and open to all members through our guided winter walking group and also for those with past winter experience there’s the unguided winter walking and climbing groups.

The vast expanse of the cairngorms and its unique conditions makes it one of the few areas in the UK where winter conditions can hold throughout the season and a hotspot for winter walking and climbing. Accessing this environment and terrain safely comes with a new range of challenges and skills required and so for this trip we enlist the assistance of professional guides to teach an introductory skills course on winter walking.

For this trip there are three options:

• Guided winter walking skills course (12 places)
• Unguided winter walking (requires past experience)
• Unguided winter climbing (requires past experience)

We will have a meeting to share more information about this trip towards the end of term 1.
