LUUHC Takes on Yorkshire 3 Peaks
On Sunday 24th September LUUHC will take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks to raise money for Mountain Rescue.
This famous challenge connects three of highest and most recognisable peaks in Yorkshire (Ingleborough, Whernside, and Pen-y-Ghent). The route is approximately 40 kilometres and has 1600 metres of ascent, meaning it is a very big route.
For context, this is about four times the distance and elevation we‘d usually cover on a Sunday hike and over double what you might get to do on a weekend trip. For this reason we strongly encourage you to consider your fitness and experience before buying a ticket.
We will split into different groups dependent on the time people would like to complete the route in, there’ll be a: 10 hour group for the very speedy people, a 12 hour group (which is the time most people try to do it in), and a 14 hour group for those that want to enjoy the Yorkshire views a bit more. Please buy a ticket for the group you’d like to be part of.
We will meet at the Parkinson building early in the morning (probably around 6am tbc) so we can drive and get to Ribblesdale for dawn. Expect it to be a big day, but perhaps the best way to kick of new university year!
