Create and craft your own mask, and tell your story
This creative session delves into the concept of masking - the practice of concealing one's authentic self or altering behaviour to fit in. Often associated with autistic or neurodivergent individuals, masking helps people navigate social expectations. Similarly, LGBT+ individuals might mask aspects of their identity, especially in environments where they don't feel safe being open. However, masking isn't limited to these groups; many of us hide parts of ourselves in various contexts.
This workshop offers a creative space to explore and express the aspects of yourself that you typically conceal to fit in. In creating and crafting masks to tell your story, we aim to foster empathy, highlight the pressures of conformity, and promote greater acceptance and understanding of diverse lived experiences.
