Often described as Shakespeare’s forgotten rock and roll masterpiece, ‘Return to the Forbidden Planet’ is loosely based on Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’, fusing it with 1950s and 60s rock and roll music and classic sci-fi. We follow the starship Albatross as it is drawn towards the planet D’Illyria, where the Captain Tempest and his crew meet the disgraced Doctor Prospero, his daughter Miranda and their robot Ariel. Chaos and confusion ensues as Miranda falls in love with both Tempest and Ariel, much to the dismay of Cookie, the ship’s chef, who harbors a crush on Miranda. A tangle of love interests run riot whilst a malevolent presence looms over the ship and crew. Featuring classic songs such as Good Vibrations, Wipeout and Great Balls of Fire, this musical combines the powerful oratory of Shakespeare with the groovy tunes of the 50s and 60s. It is a crazy and ridiculous 2 hours of fun for everyone!
