Liberate LUU: 'Islamophobia and Emancipation'
Amid growing discussions and debate around defining Islamophobia as a form of racism and recent attempts to reframe it as “anti-Muslim hatred”, this event will bring together a panel of notable experts on Islamophobia to revisit the nature of the phenomenon.
The presentations will be followed by questions from the host based on the presentations given. This will lead into a general Q&A from students who are in attendance.
The panel is part of a series of ongoing work and discussion started in May 2023 addressing LUU's Policy that states 'LUU should explore a working definition of Islamophobia, led by Muslim students at Leeds.' Students can read the report summarising our work so-far on the policy here, which includes recommendations from students to make space for further discussions like this one.
