AI On Your Own Device: Running AI Models Locally!
Ever wondered if you could use AI like ChatGPT on your own computer, without needing the internet?
It's possible, and in this workshop, we'll show you how! Join us for a beginner-friendly, interactive session where we'll break down the world of “local AI”. We'll show you how to run multiple (not just one!!) open-source AI models right on your own laptop, for free.
It's a beginner-friendly workshop. We'll break down complex topics to make them clear and understandable for everyone.
In this 2-hour session, you will:
- Discover "Local AI": We'll explain what this term means and why it's a game-changer for privacy, working offline, and making the AI your own.
- Understand How AI Works: We'll break down buzzwords like parameters, quantization (making AI models tiny!), and distillation (how to "teach" a small AI).
- Learn About Hardware: Find out what your laptop really needs (CPU, GPU, VRAM) to run these models.
- Live Demo: We'll show you popular tools to run local AI and also play with multiple AI models. Not just one!!
- Chat About Real-World Scenarios: Get hands-on (in groups), deciding how this could help a journalist, a student, or pretty much anyone!
Who should attend?
This workshop is for beginners, from any discipline. If you're curious about AI but don't know where to start, this is for you. No coding experience or technical background is required!
Come along to see how you can use modern AI, completely under your own control.
