ULI Art Workshop
This immersive, hands-on session will introduce participants to the traditional Igbo artistic practice of Uli, a unique form of body and mural painting that embodies storytelling, symbolism, and cultural identity.

What to Expect
Learn the history & significance of Uli art – Explore its deep cultural roots in Igbo tradition, where it was used for self-expression, decoration, and communication.
Hands-on creation – Participants will be guided step-by-step to create their own Uli-inspired designs, both on body (arms/hands) and/or canvases, using traditional patterns and modern adaptations.*Skin patch testing required 1 week before for body painting
Symbolism & Meaning – Understand the significance behind the patterns and motifs, and how they connect to nature, philosophy, and identity.
Cultural Exchange & Creativity – This session offers a unique opportunity to engage with Uli, appreciating how it transcends borders and can be applied in personal and professional artistic practices.

Important Information for Participants
No prior experience needed – Just bring an open mind and creativity!
Materials provided – Paints, brushes, and canvases will be available.
Gloves (latex free) and Aprons provided- to protect your hands and clothes from the dye, but please don’t wear your best outfits, just in case!
Patch testing required – As body painting is involved, a patch test will need to be done at least 48 hours before the workshop for safety reasons. Patch testing will take place 1 week before the workshop. Thursday 20th March at 1pm.
