LiberateLUU: LGBTQ+ History Month Film Screening of 'Moonlight'
LGBTQ+ History Month
In celebration of LGBTQ+ History Month, LUU's Liberation Student Collective is putting on a film screening of Moonlight in the Liberation Hub.
'Moonlight' is a coming-of-age story that follows Chiron - a young, black, queer, working class - through childhood to adulthood in a Miami neighbourhood as he navigates being at the crossroads of multiple systems of oppression. The film accentuates the intersecting hardships of race, class, and sexuality by illustrating how overlapping systems of power creates a unique systemised oppressive experience for Chiron that cannot be understood by looking at one aspect of his identity alone.
