As a benefit of the University's partnership with Opera North, we have a limited number of free tickets available for students to watch a dress rehearsal of an opera.
Which opera? A Christmas Carol by Will Todd
Where? Howard Assembly Room
When? 15th December
What time? 7pm
What is a dress rehearsal?
This is the final practice session before an opera opens to the public. Usually, the performance is conducted as if the paying audience were there - this includes the singers wearing full costumes and make up, and technical aspects of the show like lighting and sound. Sometimes, the singers may sing a bit more softly than usual to save their voices for opening night and the orchestra may be wearing informal clothes but otherwise the dress rehearsal gives the performers, director, and crew one last opportunity to fine-tune every detail of the full performance.
