Choking During Sex: What You Need to Know About Safety and UK Law

Group Wellbeing and Partnership
Venue Online Zoom Event
Starts Wed 12 Feb 12:30PM
End Wed 12 Feb 2:00PM

Choking as part of consensual sex is becoming more common in the UK. This FREE online workshop, commissioned by Leeds University Union, will give useful information about the safety and legal implications of choking. The session will be delivered by the external organisation Behind Closed Doors and will last for 1 hour 15 minutes.

This will be extremely useful knowledge for students and especially those running student organisations or peer support and advocacy groups. You may join anonymously if you wish; there will be no need to have your camera on and Leeds Uni will not have any details of who attended.

The session will cover:

  • What we mean by ‘choking’
  • Medical issues that can come from choking
  • What UK law says
  • Issues around consent in the UK
  • Where to get help if it is needed
