Hi there :) I’ve been debating for the past 5 years (starting in high school) so I consider myself to have a significant amount of experience. I am now an acknowledged pro debater, following my last competition. I am fully committed towards the future of the society and have attended all of the competitions in the past year, making it to the finals of 2/3rds of them. As competitions officer, along with attempting to fulfil the demand for more competitions and hosting Leeds IV, I would also like to continue to improve our competitive debate workshops by introducing more debate resources, guest speakers, and training sessions to equip Leeds with the tools to establish ourselves on the map. This past year, I've built relationships with multiple debaters from other universities to allow us to host more friendly sparring sessions. okay so I love debating !!! like a lot which already makes me an excellent fit for competitions officer already. Additionally, I have gone to multiple comps both with the society and individually, I have learnt a lot from my experience (double slay!!). As competitions officer I plan to finally organize a Leeds debate comp, contact debatesocs from other unis for sparring. I also plan to learn a lot using resources to be an efficient debating coach to help the uni win more comps !
also I will come up with VERY cool motions to ensure the society is still fun after this current amazing committee retires.
