Having been a committed volunteer with Leeds Marrow for over a year, I have seen first hand the life-saving impact of our work and the passion that drives this society. I am now excited to take on more responsibility by applying for the role of Donor Recruitment Coordinator. Through attending and supporting numerous swabbing events, I have gained a deep understanding of how to effectively engage with students, manage event flow, and communicate the importance of the stem cell register with clarity and compassion.

This role is a natural next step for me, as I want to play a bigger part in planning and delivering successful donor recruitment events across campus. I am confident in managing logistics like room booking, supply organisation, and volunteer shift scheduling - and I am eager to collaborate with other societies to reach new audiences and grow the register. In addition to organising events, I am also passionate about supporting new volunteers. Having once been in their shoes, I would love to help create a welcoming environment, offer shadowing opportunities, and guide them through their first events with confidence.

My background combines both leadership and service. As a former DEI prefect and current president of the University accommodation residence Social Life Committee, I have gained organisational skills and the ability to motivate teams. My time as a student ambassador and customer service rep has sharpened my communication skills, which I will use to confidently manage event logistics and liaise with other societies for collaborative recruitment sessions. Additionally, my involvement in public health projects like a Vaping Study in Yorkshire, a water sanitation project in South Africa v the UK, and a Global Health Internship drafting grant proposals to support health and well-being initiatives in Fiji, reflect my commitment to long-term, measurable impact - something I would bring to this role.

If selected, I aim to make Leeds Marrow one of the top-performing donor recruitment societies in the country. I will focus on increasing event turnout, securing high-traffic locations, improving volunteer coordination, and offering first-time volunteers meaningful shadowing and training opportunities. Above all, I want to ensure our events are inclusive, energising, and effective - because every new donor on the register is a chance to save a life.

Leeds Marrow is more than just a society - it is a movement that changes lives. I would be proud to help lead that effort the following academic year and ensure our events are impactful, inclusive, and well-run.
