Hello, I’m Kasim, a first-year undergraduate studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics and I’m nominating myself for the role of secretary. I pride myself on my organisation and planning, which are valuable skills, more so for this role in particular. I’d like the best for this society, and I think I’m the candidate capable of bringing it about.

I’m involved with Green Action, the Leeds Green Party, and Blue Marble, all environment focussed societies/organisations that relate to similar ideas and values of the Conservation Volunteers. This link that I have can contribute to forming a bridge between the organisations, allowing for more of the collaborations that we all love, as well as providing an easy way for our society to grow. I believe this to be vital to the goals of the society, since more people and more events means more volunteering and caring for nature that can be carried out, and these connections are one of the things I have to offer.

The reason that I want to be on committee for this society, as opposed to other societies, is simply because it is the best at dealing with environmental issues – I love the hands-on approach that this society offers, and the immediate, direct involvement with the local area. I think it is the most important thing that this society offers, and for predominantly this reason, I wish to have a greater involvement by being on the committee. Finally, on top of all of this, Conservation Volunteers is my favourite society from my first year (sorry, not sorry PhilSoc) and I’d like to be able to provide a similar experience to the next wave of newcomers, and any returning members too.
