Hi, I'm Reem & I'm interested in being VegSoc's Social Secretary as it will be a great opportunity to be more involved within the community and organise many different events to get others interested in our society and keep our members active!

Why do I want to be involved in the society? I have been vegetarian for almost 2 years now and have enjoyed it thoroughly! From the vegan events that support local owned businesses and host different cultures vegan-alternative foods, to trying new food spots, to Vegan Camp-out with hundreds of vegan food options, I've involved myself in many (and any) food-related messes. It only makes sense to involve myself, and others, in this as well.

Who am I? I am 20 years old and I study at the University of Leeds. I am currently undergoing a placement year as my third year of university at Volkswagen Group UK as part of their Fleet Development team, studying Business Management & Marketing. I am also currently part of the Laidlaw Scholarship after being awarded it in 2021, a scholarship focused on leadership and research, connecting students with further higher education opportunities.


What past experiences do I have? I have previously been involved in different societies as well as on committees as recruitment officer. I have been involved in two Employee Network Groups (ENGs) around LGBTQ+ and Cultural Diversity helping support the planning and readiness of different events we have ran throughout the year such as pride, black history month, various quarterly events and delivering educational presentations to various departments reaching hundreds of employees across the company. As you can see, from my experiences I host a variety of skills including those required to navigate a full-time salaried position. This encompasses, but is not limited to, organisational skills gained through project management and an Agile method of working, event-planning skills due to the number of fleet events and departmental conferences navigated with my team, research due to my research scholarship which can help us find the best options to partner with and explore as a society.

Hi Vegsoc! I'm Leilani and would love to be your Social Sec. I have been vegan for over 3 years now and veggie before that- I may be relatively new but I am passionate to spread the knowledge and grow our community. By being Social Sec, I mainly want to increase the number of events and socials whilst introducing new activities and really good food!!! I believe we can have a great influence on the university, meet new people and most importantly have fun whilst doing it :).
