Hey I’m Jack Baum, do you want WarhammerSoc to be even more fun and accessible? The Codex Astartes says it should be, and so do I. So I’m running for Community Manager!

I think the society could benefit from more formalised new player support, such as in-depth model building and painting tutorials. Often times these aspects of the hobby can be intimidating for new players, which can harm society retention. Personalised tutorials for less experienced folks could help get them more acquainted with the hobby, especially when combined with the relaxed environment of WarhammerSoc. But a little extra support could really go a long way.

I’d also advocate for more ongoings than just weekly painting and gaming sessions. More socials and organised trips would be a good way to start, and also help further build bonds within the community. This could definitely include gaming, and while much gaming happens within the society already, more organised gaming sessions (online or otherwise) would be jolly good fun, especially for people who can’t always turn up to events in the flesh, helping them stay involved.

We’ve got a damn good society here, as soon as I got to Leeds I jumped right in and never looked back. I’d love to contribute to this great community in any way I can, and would love to be your Community Manager✌️.

My name is Louis Mcconville. I study mental health nursing at the university of Leeds.

Studying at home I quickly searched for a sense of community and belonging, and Warhammer society was there to welcome me with open arms, and where I have come to meet many people I am proud to call friends.

It is my absolute belief that our strong, diverse, and welcoming community is our societies most valuable asset, and I have tried to contribute my part to it as much as possible including: helping the committee with events where I can; referring and welcoming new members of the society and providing whatever resources and advice I can to those in need.

I am keen to help this society further, listening to its voice so we can bring it to even greater heights.

Let's get the biggest Warhammer society in Britain even bigger.
