After being donor recruitment coordinator for the past year, I would love to further dedicate my time to Leeds Marrow and run as president. I have loved attending donor recruitment and fundraising sessions over the past year and would love to get even more involved by using my knowledge gained from this experience to run the committee.

I first heard about Anthony Nolan when my brother was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in 2019. He required 2 stem cell transplants throughout his treatment. Unfortunately, I wasn't a match for him and neither was anyone else on the register at that time. This led to us running a campaign with Anthony Nolan to recruit thousands of potential donors, raise money and raise awareness of this amazing charity. We did this by attending schools, holding a fundraising day and even attending Tramlines, the music festival. This resulted in several people going on to donate their stem cells and save lives of those originally unable to find a match, as well as my brother receiving the stem cell transplants he needed to save his life.

This resulted in me learning more and more about this amazing charity. When I joined university I knew I wanted to support them more by joining Leeds Marrow as Donor Recruitment Coordinator. In this role I assisted in arranging and volunteering at weekly events to sign up potential donors, as well as assisting in organising collaborations with societies such as BalletSoc. So far I have had an amazing time helping to raise awareness and volunteering for Marrow and Anthony Nolan and feel that I have the experience necessary to aid me to be the perfect presidential candidate.
