Hello! I am an economics student currently on my placement year, and I can't wait to get back to Leeds Marrow next year. I joined Marrow in September 2019, and have held committee roles since January 2020 (Social Sec and DR).

I have loved my time with Marrow so far - through tricky times, the society came together and found new ways to get the word out and save lives. I look forward to leading events and planning campaigns to leave no cheek unswabbed in all of Leeds. The work you all have done this past year has been inspiring, and I hope I can meet such a high bar!

I joined marrow this year after hearing about my sister’s friend who has had a stem cell transplant for leukaemia. This has motivated me to make a difference. Since joining marrow, I have very much enjoyed the volunteering side and meeting other volunteers. I would be suited to this role because I would like to get more involved in the volunteering side. Especially getting more people to volunteer and the key initiative to get more people to sign up to the stem cell register, which can save many lives.

I’m Jessica, I’m in my second year studying Aerospace Engineering. I started volunteering for Marrow in September, when I returned to university after having a bone marrow transplant myself. Because of this I know how important Marrow’s work is first hand, there wasn’t a donor for me on the register at the time so I know how big a difference signing just one more person up can make as it has the potential to save a life. I have volunteered several times throughout the year and helped sign many people up, I enjoy these events and would love to help organise them next year as they are so crucial. Earlier this year, I attended the online conference and learnt a lot about Marrow and how it is run. I have also worked with charities outside of Marrow this year, such as Young Lives vs Cancer, helping to raise awareness and generate donations. I am also currently working with Anthony Nolan. This work has helped me in volunteering for marrow and therefore could contribute greatly if I was on the committee.
