Hi I am Janice, a first-year Digital Media Student running for Internal Vice President of the Leeds Hong Kong Society. As a HongKonger studying in the UK for more than two years, I have always wanted to contribute to the community of HongKongers in the UK in some way and help foster a sense of belonging to the Society through becoming part of the committee, as to cultivate solidarity within the community. I believe this position would allow me to showcase my potential as a leader and as an active listener, assisting the president and other committees in ensuring a smooth running of the society.

As Internal vice president, I would ensure good engagement, inclusivity and most importantly, facilitate cohesive communication within the committee. I would harness my this role in showcasing my ability in balancing interests of every committee, forwarding plans and communicating ideas within the committee. As well as connect members of the society with the committee. Most important quality of internal vice president is Communication and transparency, in which I would be the main coordinator of meetings and to maintain communication channels such as newsletters and social media groups. Another is to assist the president in executing strategies and plans. In which it would be the key responsibility to fill in and take on the role as leader when necessary

I believe I possess the required skills and expertise for this role because of my experience working as the Co-producer for the HKSOC variety show 2024 Chronos. In which I fulfilled responsibilities similar to this role, such as hosting committee meetings and internal administrations with committee members. I also managed some paperwork as which I would also have to manage along with the general secretary in the future. I have also gained experience in working as a team in being a marketing subcommittee for the Joint UK Hong Kong Career Society in which I had to collaborate with other five divisions and design proposals, materials for the overall branding of the society. Therefore I believe I am suitable in a role that requires heavy commitment and administrative work, as well as a good time management and prioritisation of work.

Lastly, I would contribute heavily in membership management, including recruitment and ensuring existing members are satisfied and involved.
