Hi my name is Andrew, and I am going into 4th year this September. I’m excited to apply for the role of 4th year rep for Orthosoc and become a part of an important and growing society.

Over the past few years, I have developed a strong interest in Orthopaedics driven through clinical placements and my own exploration. Recently, I managed to get involved and scrub into various orthopaedic surgeries at Harrogate hospital and it further confirmed my interest.

I admire the work already carried out by members of the committee such as workshop days, webinars and involvement at conferences. I hope to further build on these experiences, through further talks with influential orthopaedic surgeons, surgical skill specific workshops, mentorship schemes and application building workshops. I would like to create a mentorship programmes to help all students with a passion for orthopaedics who want to gain further experience and get involved in research. Through networking I have many orthopaedic connections at all trusts including Harrogate, Calderdale and Leeds.

I, myself have roles of responsibility already in societies such as cardiac risk in the young and look forward to bringing skills built from this to help grow this society. I am also currently spending this summer at St James with the surgical research team getting involved in projects and I hope I can make research more accessible for students who would like to get involved but don’t know how.

I am excited to apply for the position of 4th Year Representative for the Orthopaedic Society. As someone with a strong interest in surgery and a passion for orthopaedics, I am eager to contribute to the society’s growth while ensuring that the needs and perspectives of our year group are well represented.

In this role, I aim to act as a clear and approachable point of contact between the committee and my peers, making sure that everyone stays informed about upcoming events, teaching sessions, skills workshops, and career development opportunities. I also hope to gather feedback from students to help shape future events and make them as relevant and beneficial as possible for our cohort.

Having developed strong communication and organisational skills throughout medical school, I am confident in my ability to manage this role effectively. I enjoy working collaboratively, value the importance of peer-led learning, and am committed to helping my colleagues make the most of the resources and opportunities the society has to offer.

Overall, I would welcome the opportunity to represent the 4th year students and contribute positively to both the society and our collective learning experience.

Hi, my name is Sidrah and I would love to be 4th year rep for ortho soc! Ever since my orthopaedics placement in 2nd year, I’ve had quite an interest in it as a speciality!
