Hi, I’m Rebecca!
I’m super excited to be running for co-pres this year, after completing a year as Orthosoc secretary I’ve been able to see how the society has grown since setting back up and the changes we can make to allow this to continue.

I’ve been involved in several BOMSA, BHS and BOTA projects over the last 5 years of uni and have taken an interest in diversifying orthopaedics, something I hope we can continue to do within the society this year.

Through mentoring schemes, training pathway guidance, portfolio building, OSCE practice and collaboration with other societies I truly believe Orthosoc can contribute to creating the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons!

Hi, I’m Jules, and I’m excited to run for Co-President of OrthoSoc! As someone passionate about T&O, I want to build on the society’s success by delivering engaging and inspiring opportunities for all students.

My main goals for the OrthoSoc are:

To further develop our collaboration with Cutting Edge, organising and delivering events that promote interest in surgery and related fields.

To strengthen ties with Trauma & Orthopaedics (T&O) consultants and trainees, opening up more mentorship opportunities for students.

To introduce new ideas that broaden the scope of learning and involvement for our members. For example, organising tasters of T&O, including theatre and clinic shadowing, as well as "Day in the Life" talks with surgeons.
I would like to launch teaching sessions focused on Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal topics, covering anatomy, pathology, and clinical conditions in collaboration with "PALS".
I think it is important to provide guidance on research and CT1 application-prep through initiatives like a research journal club, Q&A sessions on social media, and advice from current trainees.

I have solid track record of relevant experience:
Vice-President, Leeds Marrow Charity (2024–present)
Welfare Secretary, LUU Boxing Team (2024–present)

With my experience and dedication, I aim to make OrthoSoc even more accessible, educational, and exciting for all.

Hi, I’m Yasmin, and I’m excited to be running for Orthosoc Co-President!

Over the past academic year, I’ve really enjoyed being part of the committee as Clinical Rep. It’s been incredibly rewarding, and I’d love the opportunity to continue contributing to the society’s growth and success.

One of my proudest achievements was organising Orthosoc’s first ever in-person event. I coordinated with doctors and student speakers, arranged essential equipment like arthroplasty and suturing kits, and ensured the workshops ran smoothly. I also organised a talk on core surgical training applications to give students clearer insight into the pathway ahead.

Looking ahead, I’m excited about the opportunities we have as a society. I’d love to introduce MSK teaching sessions, develop a mentoring scheme to connect students with orthopaedic professionals, expand clinical exposure opportunities, and create more hands-on workshops to enhance practical skills.

Being part of this society has been a highlight of my year, and I’m passionate about taking it even further. I’d be honoured to help lead Orthosoc into another fantastic year.

Hey everyone! I’m Bella and I am running for Co-president this year for Orthosoc! This year I have been Social Media Secretary and Events Manager as part of the core forming committee of Orthosoc. I have created multiple posts and participated regularly in society meetings and events with a strong understanding of how to help the society develop next year.
I am passionate about Orthopaedics through the variety of work and tangible results seen for patients e.g. post knee arthroplasty improving peoples lives via mechanical equipment and metal implants.
In January I individually represented Orthosoc for the Teddy bear hospital society educating children about bone health and anatomy. This was an invaluable experience and I hope to replicate this for Orthosoc via the Societies into Schools (SIS) programme supported by the university.
Furthermore I propose to organise charity events like bake sales and runs to fundraise for the Royal Osteoporosis Society and Versus Arthritis with members of Orthosoc.
Creating a newsletter detailing society events, recently published Orthopaedic research and interviews with Orthopaedic professionals is a new idea I am enthusiastic to create for Orthosoc to increase the awareness and opportunities of this specialty.
I would like to create lots more roles to diversify the committee like charities coordinator, careers coordinator and collaboration coordinator.
Currently intercalating in an MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine I have a strong anatomical and MSK OSCE understanding having been examined on these in January 2025. I enjoy educating students to help them excel in Medicine which I have demonstrated through volunteering for 3rd year mock OSCEs as an examiner on the MSK station and would love to organise a teaching series on MSK conditions for year groups.

My name is Sid and I’m a 4th year medical student running for co-president for Orthosoc.

Should I become co-president, I have many plans for the future of the society, with my main goals being the intention of creating opportunities for students to engage with leading orthopaedic professionals, gain hands-on experience, and develop their own skills via workshops, networking events and research opportunities.

If you give me the chance I want to help grow and build this society so that it is inclusive for everyone who has even the slightest interest in this sector of medicine.

Hi, I’m Eddie, a second-year medical student, and I'm excited to apply for the role of Vice President of Orthosoc.

Since first year, I’ve had a strong interest in orthopaedics and have taken every opportunity to deepen my understanding of the specialty and what it takes to pursue a career in it. Through this, I’ve gained insight into the application process, the challenges of early preparation, and the steps needed to become a competitive candidate for orthopaedic training.

If elected, my aim is to support the President in delivering the society’s vision, while also focusing on helping students make the most of the opportunities available to them — particularly during placements and surgical rotations. I want to ensure that those interested in orthopaedics not only understand the training pathway, but also feel confident in how to build their portfolio and develop relevant skills from early on.

In addition, I hope to strengthen the academic side of the society by encouraging engagement with research and evidence-based practice. I want to help run journal clubs and academic events that build students’ confidence in critical appraisal and spark interest in contributing to orthopaedic research.

Orthosoc has the potential to be a valuable stepping stone for aspiring orthopaedic surgeons, and I’d love the opportunity to contribute to its continued growth and impact.
