Hi everyone, I'm Milly and I am running for welfare secretary next year. I'm a first year adult nursing student and have been a committed member of rec badminton this past semester. As welfare secretary I would continue to support the members of this club by being a friendly face at both Wednesday and Sunday sessions and providing confidentiality and support with any concerns raised to me. It’s very important to me that members feel they can approach me, and I can always be contacted via DM. Inclusion is also priority for me and creating a space where everyone can feel comfortable and welcome. As a nursing student I have gained experience in supporting both the physical and mental well-being of individuals, and have developed valuable skills to identify, address and support people’s concerns. I have found badminton to be such a fun, welcoming and friendly society and it would be my honour if I could help in continuing that for our current and new members next year.

My name is Octavia McGlone-Healey and I am currently a first year. I would love to be welfare secretary because I enjoy listening and guiding others when they have problems. Being a part of the badminton society for a year, I have enjoyed the fun and inclusive environment present and would love to continue that. To do this I will ensure no on feels left out wether that be at the Wednesday or Sunday rec sessions or at the socials. I hope to be an approachable, friendly face for people to confide in. Additionally, I wish to resolve tensions if they arise.

WARD 4 WELFARE!

Hi everyone,

I'm Kiran, a 1st year medical student. I'm still fairly new to this club, having only joined the team in Semester 2, but I have had such a lovely time so far!

I found joining the club a little daunting for me at the start, so I'd love to be in the position of Welfare Rep to welcome new members to the club and make them feel included, just like I was. I also believe I have the right skills to be a friendly and responsive face for any other welfare support needed within the club.

I've seen other societies have sip and paint sessions, walks and coffee catch-ups as part of wellbeing, so I'd be keen to incorporate these ideas into our society too.
