Being web sec gives you the power to run the club Instagram and website, giving you the chance to have a visible impact on how the club is advertised and connected online.
Maintaining the club website isn’t as technical as it sounds so don’t let that scare you off. The site is run on squarespace and is easy to learn. What you choose to do with it is totally up to you; you can keep the current design or give it a total overhaul! General maintenance is updating the calendar with trip/social information and adding/updating photos after trips and events. The instagram is an important tool in club communications, and has over 1000 followers. Again the aesthetic appearance on here is your decision and you will regularly post on the account as well as replying to any direct message enquiries that might come through. The posts typically include; photos from club trips/events, trip/events advertisements and the creation of Instagram reels from our club trips. In order to have photos and videos to put online you have to be responsible for collating all the photos and videos after each trip, which usually involves chasing up a few leaders to send theirs across to you! The slightly more tedious tasks of the role are to organise payment for the web services we use, and also help with general teething problems there may be with club emails/online services.
It’s a very fun role on committee, particularly if you have an eye for aesthetics and an interest in how the club looks online.
