Hey people, I’m Sean, and I will be running for Social Sec! I am in my second year studying mechanical engineering and I love hiking (if you couldn’t tell). I have been hiking with my dad all around the UK and even abroad since I was young, and I just enjoy being outdoors. I joined the society last year, and even though the Sunday hikes were only able to continue in May, they really reminded me of why I love hiking after months of being stuck inside and brought joy to what had been an awful year for me (and all of us, I imagine). This is all thanks to the commitment of the committee who bring tons of life to this club. This is why I want to run for committee this year, because I enjoy being around people who are really passionate about hiking and want to continue the friendly environment that has been created.



As social sec, I will be continuing with the weekly Thursday socials at the Eldon. The main reason for this is because of the relaxed environment where members can just chill and talk. Also, the 3 for £5 Jägerbombs is a reason, of course. In terms of the other socials that will be happening, obviously I will organise the classics: Summer BBQ, Christmas Meal, Fridge to Fridge and AGM. There will also be plenty more that I will do, including an Otley run, karaoke, a scavenger hunt, the return of ice skating and more. I would say I would organise games on weekend trips, but honestly, I just want to sleep after a hike. But if you vote for me, I can guarantee plenty of fun events for everyone to enjoy.



The socials this year have been a welcoming and friendly place, and this is something that I want to maintain to encourage new people to join and keep the wonderful community that has been created. I don’t have much experience in managing large events like these, but I am confident and excited to give it a crack. Either way, I’m excited to give it my all and work with other committee members to make next year another great year for LUUHC.
