Talking with you already, I have heard your concerns about value for money, the lack of opportunities to interact with chambers, and a desire for various social events. As a member of the executive, I will be keen to implement more of your ideas.

Hey everyone! My name is Jocelyn and I’m running for the position of treasurer of the Law Society. As a second-year law student, I have a number of experiences of both being a treasurer within LUU societies and external organisations where I had dealt with over 35+ sponsors and £10,000 worth of assets in total. I am passionate about making your experience at Leeds LawSoc the best one to come by working closely with sponsors and my fellow committee members. Now, I may not have a fancy catchphrase but I do aim to do the best job as YOUR NEXT TREASURER!

My qualifications:
1. Treasurer of Leeds Debating Society
- Managed 200 members’ membership fees.
- Budgeted and financed 3 debating competitions with over £1,000 in transactions.
- Experienced in liaising with LUU and other universities across the UK.

2. Secretary of Women In Leadership Leeds
- Worked closely with the President and Vice President in seeking sponsorships.
- Obtained sponsorships with firms such as: KPMG, Reed Smith, Clyde & Co, EY, Bank of America, Mars, etc.
- Experienced in being transparent with my committee work to members as exemplified by my experience leading over 1,500+ members.

3. Founded a City wide debate tournament in Hong Kong
- Founded and managed over £2,000 of finances, including sponsorship fees and logistic fees.
- Garnered over 30+ schools to join.
- Obtained 5 sponsorships from various universities and colleges.

4. Led and organised an Art based event with the HK government
- Managed a £3,500 grant by the HK government to host events in promoting local artists and art culture.
- Connected with 17 sponsors regarding a variety of items, including catering, goody bags, and venues.

5. Treasurer for a SouthEast Pacific wide Sports tournament for 2 years.
- Led a group of 7 people to manage the finances of a SouthEast Pacific wide tournament.
- Managed and allocated £3,700 worth of assets for essentials and refreshments.
- Budgeted and clearly presented plans to sponsors and participating schools during the whole process.
- Connected and gained 25+ sponsorships.

My general objectives as treasurer:
As treasurer, I will ensure that the society functions efficiently and productively through cooperating with other members of the committee and helping host great events and helping it become a staple among other societies. I will do this by:

- Ensuring transparency;
- Keeping an accurate account of the society’s funds;
- Expanding areas that have the potential to increase the society’s exposure and popularity outside of our degree.
- Getting connected to sponsors that can help propel Leeds LawSoc members by providing more connections, events and opportunities.
- Strengthening ties with a variety of Commercial law firms, Barrister Chambers and Non-Law firms for sponsorships to reflect and diversify the possible options after a Law degree.

Hello everyone, my name is Mohammad Anas. I am a first-year student originally from India where I completed my double major in English Language and Literature, Economics. I’m running for treasurer this year and in this election, I ask you to vote for my experience and dedication. This role requires management and networking which I excel at. As a treasurer, my aim is to run this society financially smoother by being a team player to improve the experience of members as well as students who approach us for anything. Referring to my manifesto, I have the required skills and experience to thrive in the role and manage the added responsibility as a member of the executive. I believe the management of funds in society is a very vital task as money without management is money wasted. Also, with this position, I'm looking forward to educating everyone on the importance of networking which is a very important skill for every student, especially law grads because, in the end, your network is your net worth.
