The President of Leeds Policy Institute (LPI) is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing the organisation's strategic direction and operational aspects. As the chair of committee meetings, the President plays a crucial role in advancing LPI's mission of conducting empirically driven, non-partisan policy research on both local and national issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to steer LPI towards its objectives. Develop and articulate the organisation's strategy and ensure alignment with its mission and values.
- Meeting Management: Design and manage meeting agendas, fostering productive discussions and decision-making among members. Ensure meetings are conducted efficiently and effectively.
- Research Oversight: Oversee the development and execution of high-quality research initiatives across LPI's seven policy areas. Guide and support research teams to ensure rigour and relevance in their work.
- Website Development: Drive and oversee continuous improvement efforts for the LPI website, ensuring it remains a dynamic platform for disseminating research findings, op-eds, and engaging with stakeholders.
- Partnership Building: Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with external organisations, including academic institutions, government agencies, and industry stakeholders. Explore collaboration opportunities to enhance LPI's impact and reach.
- Member Support and Engagement: Provide mentorship and support to LPI members, fostering their personal and professional development. Ensure a positive and inclusive environment where members can thrive and contribute effectively.
- Event Coordination: Oversee the planning and execution of speaker events, panel discussions, and other engagement activities within Leeds University. Ensure events are relevant, engaging, and aligned with the interests of LPI members.
- Content Management and Promotion: Ensure the timely publication of research reports, articles, and other content on the LPI website. Develop strategies for effectively marketing LPI's work on social media and other channels to maximize visibility and impact.
- Problem Solving: Proactively identify and address any issues or challenges facing LPI, taking prompt action to resolve them. Maintain a proactive approach to problem-solving to ensure the smooth operation of the organization.
