I'm Thomas Smedley, a first-year economics student excited about running for Social Secretary for LUBS Society in 2024/25! My main aim is to unite all Lublies as a community so that all members can make new friends and lifelong memories. In my time in LUBS Society, I have experienced many amazing socials and become familiar with their atmosphere and finances. My favourite was our recent trip to Barcelona, an experience I strive to replicate for all Lublies.

I aim to make socials cheaper for LUBS members and introduce a larger range of non-clubbing events! If you vote for me, I will take action to realise this by negotiating with new sponsors, clubs and event organisers to find quality events tailored for you. I have negotiation skills from my experiences at a charity furniture store and door-to-door sales, and communication experience from Leeds Student Radio - this means I will be a perfect candidate to express your interests to LUBS Society partners.

As your Social Secretary, I will always search for new ideas to give you a perfect experience in Leeds! I will set up new channels to communicate clearly about our events and to connect you with your accom and coursemates, as well as weekly feedback forms and polls to determine our future socials. It would be my privilege to join the LUBS Society committee because of its great responsibility and the opportunity to leap forward in my career. Hi guys! My name is Sara Riziq and I'm a first year economics student who's running for the position of Social Secretary! Reflecting on this year, I realised that being a part of multiple societies is what helped shape my university experience and gave me the opportunity to create amazing memories. As a Social Secretary, my main aim would be making sure others get that experience I did by focusing on a multitude of areas.

Firstly, I aim to have organised socials more frequently, with varied locations as well as make those socials cheaper for members by securing sponsorships and creating a relationship with multiple different organisers and clubs. I also want to strive for more sober socials through varying times of the week in order to cater for a wider variety of students. These events can vary, from day trips to other cities, to indoor skiing trips and to even just a simple Hyde Park trip!

It is also vital for me that I get feedback on the members' thoughts so I will also put an importance on fostering a healthy environment where members feel safe to voice their opinions. They can do this by the multiple channels I am planning to create in order to better communicate with members and amplify their voices to see which events they prefer, and what they thought about previous events.

Hi, if you don’t already know my names Toby and I’m in my first year studying business management, and running for the position of social secretary. I believe I can greatly contribute to the society if I am successful, this is due to me during this first year participating in many societies including, swimming and waterpolo, snowriders, surf even tried lacrosse during freshers and of course business. This has meant I’ve experienced countless socials so I’ve got plenty ideas and have a good idea for what works and what doesn’t. Furthermore, I also have good connections with many of the club nights in leeds such as hifi, old red bus and the warehouse, getting us exclusive deals for club nights after socials. Hi I’m Lauren, I’m in my first year studying Business Management with HR and I’m excited to be running for the role of social secretary!

I’ve loved attending socials this year from LUBS to Lacrosse, which has given me a lot of ideas for socials to run next year. You can expect a variety of events from themed Otley Runs to Mischief Club Nights and much more!

I also think it’s important to host plenty of sober socials to give members an opportunity to have conversations with each other in a more relaxed atmosphere, and provide fun events for people who prefer not to drink. I loved attending the Paint & Sips this year and would also like to organise Fitness Classes and Pub Quizzes.

As a friendly, outgoing person I think I’m well suited to the role of social secretary. I want to make sure that new and returning members feel welcome at all times and have fun.
