Hello! I'm Minsun Kim, a 2nd-year Business Management student, and I’m running to be the President of LUKS (Leeds University Korean Society) for the 25/26 academic year.

I really enjoyed being part of LUKS events last year and spending time getting to know others — it became such a special part of my uni life. That experience made me feel truly connected, and it’s one of the main reasons I’m running for president this year. I’d love to share that joy with more people and create even more fun and meaningful memories together.

I also participated in most of the events organized by the 24/25 Korean Society, such as the Winter World Unite Festival, Otley Run, Give It a Go, MT, Pub Social, and the President's Event. I was also involved as an event staff member. Based on these experiences, I believe I will be able to manage next year’s Korean Society in a more organized and effective way.

As someone who’s bright, friendly, and outgoing with a positive mindset, I believe these qualities will help me lead and support our society with care and energy. I also learned the importance of people and connections through my experience in student council at a Korean university and while working in a company.

With this in mind, I’ll do my best to value every interaction and create opportunities where we can all connect, grow, and enjoy our time at LUKS together.

As president, I hope to focus on three core values: Connect, Grow, and Empower.

Connect - I believe that a strong society starts with genuine communication. That’s why I want to encourage open and meaningful conversations among Korean students and students interested in Korean culture. I hope LUKS becomes a space where everyone feels welcomed, heard, and connected.

Grow - I think university life isn’t just about studying, but also about building relationships and gaining experiences that help us grow. That’s why I want to make our time at LUKS more meaningful by organizing events that are not only fun and memorable, but also genuinely helpful.

Empower - I believe every student has something to contribute, and I want to help create a community where everyone feels confident to step up and get involved. I’ll work to build a space where everyone feels supported, encouraged, and proud to be part of something meaningful.

I may not be perfect, but I truly care about people and know how to listen, support, and work through challenges together. These experiences have helped me grow into a committed and responsible person who takes initiative and stays grounded. I believe I can bring that same attitude to LUKS as president, and I hope my positive energy can contribute to building a stronger and more supportive community. Hi, I’m a second year dental student and have lived in Korea and Singapore before moving to England. Serving as the Publicity Officer for the Korean Society this year has helped me develop a strong understanding of what it takes to run a society effectively as part of a committee.

Throughout this academic year, I had the chance to observe our member’s preferences and gather valuable feedback on how we can grow as a society and offer a more fulfilling experience, inspiring me to create my 6 core promises:

- More membership sponsors for members
- Wider collaboration with other societies
- Collaboration with Korean societies from other universities
- Variety of events based on the interest of members
- Stronger, inclusive community
- Organise regular pre-drinks on clubbing nights

If I have the privilege to serve as the president for the next academic year, I will fully commit to delivering these promises. Most importantly, I will actively listen to feedback and continuously make adaptations to ensure that the Korean Society experience becomes more fun, more inclusive, and more memorable for everyone.
