Hey! I'm Adriana and I would like to be your president! I was previously the social media manager for LWOB and I am confident that my fellow committee members could attest to how efficient and well-organised I was in handling my tasks. I have previously been the president and co-founder of PaperAirplanes in my high school and have also done various volunteering work to raise awareness on causes I am passionate about. Therefore, I am confident that have what it takes to be your president for next year!

My propositions for next year include:
More hands-on opportunities for members to network within the club and with members of other societies while also promoting a good cause. This includes collaborating with other societies to host fun and festive fundraising events such as bake sales, movie nights and a blind date event on Valentine's!

Taking into consideration the interest of many law students in the commercial realm, I also plan on conducting a panel event that dives into the application of human rights in businesses and firms.

I also plan on sending out an evaluation form to LWOB members or participants of LWOB events at the end of each semester to gain feedback on each event they have participated in. This initiative would ensure that we continue to improve as a team, supplement the next committee with valuable guidance, and ensure the longevity of Lawyers Without Borders in Leeds.

Hi! I am Kavya, the current Editor-In-Chief of Lawyers Without Borders Leeds Student Division (LWOB) and I am running to be LWOB President for next year. I am a first year LLB student, who loves to play basketball and meet new people. My election manifesto will give you an overview of why I chose to run for president, what experience I bring to the table and what I would do as president.

As someone enthusiastic about bringing pro bono culture to all corporate workspaces, joining LWOB was a no brainer. The society’s efforts to bring attention to various areas of the law through the Rule of Law Journal, research projects and the Rule of Law Innovation Challenge, furthered my passion towards my role in the society. Combing my passion with leadership abilities and a desire to build a better LWOB motivated me to run for LWOB president.

Even though I am a first-year student, my diverse experiences make me the ideal candidate. As president of a ResLife Social Committee at university, I lead a team of nine to host events for around 1,000 people, showcasing my ability to lead and collaborate effectively. Working as Editor-In-Chief of LWOB, I gained insight into how the society works and its potential for growth. The role has helped me hone my communication skills through working with students to refine their articles for the Rule of Law Journal. Furthermore, as head of the Student Leader Council (high school) I learned how to liaise with faculty and students effectively and set out committee goals responsibly. I was basketball team captain throughout high school, I learned how to work under pressure, think on my feet, lead with confidence, manage my time effectively and stay organized to ensure that I was a stellar athlete and student. However, what makes my candidacy stand out most is my passion to build a better LWOB.

As president of LWOB I hope to increase student engagement with the society through collaboration and advertisement. I am keen to collaborate with societies like Model UN and EU Soc to bring international law events and work with the employability office to bring international law and human rights focused careers events. Furthermore, I would introduce ‘international law wrapped’ a weekly international law focused social media update designed to raise awareness about international law issues. I would also host fundraisers to embody LWOB’s mission of equity and giving back to the community.
Conclusively, I believe that my passion for the society and experience combined with my vision for its future make me the ideal candidate for LWOB president.
