Hi everyone, I’m Alexandra and am excited to have the opportunity to be running for your Events Secretary next year! As a first year student on the LLB Law course, Law Society-and all the incredible events it has to offer, have been an integral part of my uni experience so far. Therefore, I would love the opportunity to be your next Events Secretary and continue this aspect of our society that we all enjoy so much.

Through my combination of experience organising both legal and non-legal events, I understand what the role of Events Secretary would entail. As part of my Sixth Form’s Law Society, I co-organised the inaugural ‘law insight day’, which involved:
-budgeting for refreshments
-inviting other local schools
-contacting legal professionals as panelists
-creating an outline for the day to run seamlessly

Equally, I have also been part of organising events such as shows at my local Stagecoach Performing Arts School, which involved:
-liaising with local theatres in order to secure a venue within budget
-communicating timings for the show
-welcoming audience members
-coordinating performers on the day backstage

Additionally, as a member of the Media and Publicity Subcommittee this year, I have been able to familiarise myself with the dynamic of working for Law Soc.

As your future Events Secretary, I would continue to maintain the high-standard of events whilst also introducing new ideas to even further enhance events. I would do this through placing an emphasis on the interest members, such as:
-polls to vote on themes
-interactive elements to Law’s Got Talent through technology such as real-time voting
-collaborating with spaces such as the Union and Law School to ensure events are accessible both in terms of location and costs

Hey everyone! I’m Maya and I’m excited to be running to be your Events Secretary next year. I am a third year law student, currently spending a year abroad at the National University of Singapore.

I’m well suited for this role as I am sociable, outgoing and passionate about bringing people together to make new friends and explore new experiences, both of which I believe are some of the main things people look forward to at university. I am an approachable student who is easy to talk to as I am friendly and relatable. I always make an effort to talk to people and ensure everyone is included.

Having thoroughly enjoyed the Law Ball for the past two years, I’d love to take on the role of planning it, along with Laws Got Talent next year. These events provide a way to meet new people and create amazing memories at university. They also allow people some time to relax and take a break from academics. Of course, we all know the academic side of university is important, but the social side is just as important in shaping a positive experience where people feel truly comfortable and supported.

I have the experience required to successfully plan these events. I was head girl at sixth form which provided me with invaluable experience working collaboratively with teams to plan events, including our James Bond themed leavers ball, which was a great success. I have also been a performer from a young age and have taken part in numerous dance and musical theatre shows, so I understand the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to create a great show.

I’m committed to listening to your ideas for these events in the upcoming year. I have found the law society and past committees at Leeds super welcoming, so I hope to continue this and ensure that everyone who is a part of the society feels welcome and has opportunities to meet and mix with new people throughout the year. Overall, I would bring a positive impact on all those involved in the law society with my friendly attitude and desire for everyone to have the best possible experience and enjoy their time at Leeds!

As a first-year law student and an active member of our Law Society, I want to create events that bring our community together and make the most of our time at university. I believe that events like the Law Ball and Law’s Got Talent should be as accessible, exciting, and memorable as possible.

With experience in event organisation, social media management, and fundraising, I am confident in my ability to successfully plan and promote events that bring our community together. My name is Amelie, and I am running to be your events secretary! I am an aspiring barrister with an interest in international and constitutional law. I've really enjoyed being involved with Law society this year, and would love the chance to improve our society for everyone.

I believe that I have the skills and experience necessary to be a successful Events Secretary. An Events Sec must be organised, creative, and responsive to what you as members want.
🪩My experience in dance and theatre shows, including liaising with venues, setting up tech, and coordinating performers, has equipped me with the skills needed to run the Law Ball and Law's Got Talent.
🎉I have worked as a professional performer and party host for three years, meaning that I know what it takes to run a great event!

As Event Secretary, I would:
⚡Communicate more with LawSoc members, to ensure that events reflect your interests.
🎷Increase collaboration with other societies such as Backstage and Big Band to lower costs and make our events spectacular!
