Hiii I’m Georgie and I love climbing. Not just the action of, you know, going UP. But the people and the places and everything. I think we are a really special community and so would really work to organise weekly activities for maximum shits and giggles.

If you vote for me i know i will value and commit to the chaotic nights as well as the wholesome ones- with drinking, artsy things, music nights, out on the town, and look into doing more unoffical hikes by public transport to get everyone out of the city (as just outside of leeds is sooo beautiful).

I think I would work well as a social secretary for climbing and mountaineering society as I am an outgoing and sociable person and have lots of plans of how to create and develop socials alongside members of the society (voting on what people want to do for socials, and at what times, and giving options as to what people would prefer to dress up as for otley runs) additionally, as I did film studies a level I have experience creating short films/media and would be able to edit/create/come up with campaign videos for various socials, I also have to plans to incorporate more sober socials and encourage more creativity eg paint/draw and climb sessions.

Despite only starting climbing in September, I have stayed consistent and gone at least twice a week to the lab, therefore showcasing my dedication and passion for the sport. I hope to be a friendly face who is more than happy to welcome and talk to any new members and help them with any questions they might have about socials or bouldering to the best of my ability!

I have also attended almost every social since I joined and enjoyed them throughly!

Hi everyone, my name's Nancy and I'm running for social sec!

I think I'd be a good fit for this role as I'm organised, reliable and a committed member of the society. Since joining in September, I have made an effort to attend every social, so I have a strong insight into the types of events enjoyed by so many of you, plus new ideas to spice up the social calendar! I'm a creative, approachable person with plenty of time and energy to commit to this role.

I've been a climber all my life, but only since joining LUUMC have I truly begun to appreciate the sense of community created by climbing. I have been welcomed into this society with open arms, and I want a chance to give back to a community that has given so much to me.

I may not be the loudest voice in the room, but I'll always be the friendliest. Creating interesting, fun and inclusive socials that get everyone involved is a top priority of mine, because everyone deserves to feel welcome at LUUMC.

Hi, I’m Riley and I’m running for social sec.

A bit of background on me, I’ve been a part of the society from the beginning of last year, which is also when I started climbing, giving me plenty of knowledge about how the society works. Since joining the society I’ve attended a majority of socials over the two years, and from these I was able to meet some really good friends while feeling welcomed as part of a community that I was brand new to. I’d love to be able to keep this environment going next year and make people feel welcomed, the same way I was.

Despite being relatively new to climbing, I’m definitely not new to drinking and I believe this is the most important skill to have (because who wants a social sec who can’t hack what they’re putting you through?). On a serious note, I think I’m a good fit for the role as I am sociable, making me able to welcome new and returning members alike, to socials and the society. I am also good at communicating so will work collaboratively with the committee, especially with the the other social sec and am organised to sort out all the background stuff (bribing people to let their house get destroyed, contacting third parties for venues or club nights etc.).

Finally, I have ideas for some fresh socials and themes, such as “capture the pub” and getting the society out to an event such as Bongo’s Bingo, or something along those lines; I also like the idea of doing a crate escape or a twist on this. Of course keeping the club favourites and the sober socials.
